Don’t Make This Mistake During Parade Season

Get your walking shoes ready because we’re entering parade season!

If you are going to take the time to be in a parade, you might as well do it right because they can be a powerful tool in building momentum, recruiting volunteers, and meeting new voters.

Arguably the most important thing your organization can do to make the most impact when walking in a parade is having a strong presence of volunteers supporting you. The biggest mistake than can be made is just having 3 or 4 people carrying yard signs. Parades are your way to make a public statement that the community is behind our party and candidates.

Having key influencers from your county, ward, or township, Republican candidates, families and kids, and even bringing pets will get people noticing your group and remembering the energy you brought.

We released an entire video on how to execute a successful parade and ways you can make sure your organization is remembered when people head home. Revisit the video below to make sure you have all the logistics and operations covered.

Our final tip: “People will forget what you say, but they’ll never forget how you made them feel.” Make people at the parade feel good by providing them a fun, friendly, interesting, or even funny interaction. Make their kids feel good by giving them tasty candy. Show them it’s a positive thing to be a Republican.

Between Independence Day and summer festivals there are more than enough parade opportunities to send a powerful message to voters, so make the most of them!
